First Shipment

First Shipment of Rechargeable Battery Recycling Programme
     
 

The Rechargeable Battery Recycling Programme First Shipment Ceremony was launched on 11th April 2006 at the Chemical Waste Treatment Centre in Tsing Yi . The event was officiated by the Acting Permanent Secretary for the Environment, Transport and Works (Environment), Dr Michael Chiu Tak-lun.

Since the launch, about 13 tonnes of rechargeable batteries (equivalent to 320 000 pieces) have been collected. This first batch of rechargeable batteries recovered was shipped to a designated treatment facility in South Korea for recycling.
