Lunar New Year (LNY) is a joyful festival. People have the habit to clean up their homes thoroughly and dispose of their unwanted items to welcome the new year. The Lunar Year-end Recycling Campaign aims to remind public and arouse their awareness on waste reduction and clean recycling during this festive occasion. Especially when purchasing new year gifts, we should choose products with less packaging. You can find the Chinese New Year Green Tips here.
Peach Blossom Trees Recycling Programme
The Environmental Protection Department collects peach blossom trees (PBTs) and other festive plants after Lunar New Year holiday via a contractor. Members of the public and commercial and industrial sector can deliver their PBTs and festive plants to various collection points throughout the territory for recycling during the collection period. The PBTs and festive plants collected will be turned into useful materials such as compost and mulch. The 2020 PBTs Recycling Programme was completed (detail).
