Government Land Policy to Support Recycling Industry
The local recycling industry plays an important role in waste reduction in Hong Kong. One of the major constraints it faces is the shortage of affordable land. The Government has established a policy to support the industry by identifying and leasing suitable short term tenancy sites exclusively for waste recycling use. These short term tenancy sites had been allocated to recyclers for the operation of a business in the recovery and recycling or in connection with the reprocessing of paper, metals, plastics, electrical and electronic appliances, textile, used clothes, wood and furniture, glass, tyres, and used refrigerant, etc. generated in Hong Kong.
