Green Events
After the launch of “A Waste Reduction Guidebook for Large Scale Event Organisers” (Guidebook), the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) has collaborated with 11 event organisers of mega events of different nature (please refer to the table below) with a view to implementing the various green measures recommended in the Guidebook with the joint effort of the commissioned consultants and green groups. These events include the Hong Kong Sevens, the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon, the Hong Kong Flower Show and the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival. As a result, we have not only attained good environmental performance on waste reduction, but also gained invaluable experience.

In addition, the EPD is collaborating with the Home Affairs Department to implement waste reduction measures for district events organised in 18 districts. The EPD will also commission green groups to assist the event organisers by recommending and implementing waste reduction measures for the events so as to cultivate the “Use Less, Waste Less” culture in the community. Below is a list of district events of various District Councils to be co-organised by the EPD and the District Offices.
