Recycling of Beverage Carton for Rewards

Body

The modernised paper pulping facility at EcoPark in Tuen Mun has been officially commissioned. It marks a shift from reliance on exporting waste paper for recycling in the past to achieving waste‑to‑resources locally. The paper pulping facility not only enhances the efficiency of resources circulation and supports the development of a circular economy, but also expands the type and scale of local waste paper processing. In addition to the “three types of paper” (namely cardboard, newspapers and office paper), mixed paper such as paper boxes, shoe boxes, toilet paper roll cores, cling film roll cores, paper bags, wrapping paper, paper egg cartons and beverage cartons can be recycled and processed locally.

To encourage the public to participate in recycling actively, the Environmental Protection Department has launched the “Recycling of Beverage Carton for Rewards” promotion campaign. Starting from 1 Nov 2026, members of the GREEN$ Electronic Participation Incentive Scheme can earn double GREEN$ points for recycling beverage cartons at GREEN@COMMUNITY facilities (i.e. Recycling Stations, Recycling Stores or Recycling Spots).
