Natural Christmas Trees Recycling Service

Natural Christmas Trees Recycling Service

The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) will provide the Natural Christmas Trees (NCTs) Recycling Service after the Christmas in 2018. The NCTs will be collected at the following collection points during the specified period and then recycled by EPD's contractor to composting materials to conserve resources and reduce waste.

Commercial and Industrial (C&I) organisations (such as property management companies) should transport the NCTs intended for disposal to EcoPark in Tuen Mun. An e-certificate will be issued by the EPD to the C&I organisations to recognise their support for recycling. Members of the public can deliver domestic NTCs to EcoPark in Tuen Mun or other Community Green Stations (CGSs) during the specified period. In addition to the e-certificate, they will receive a gift for delivery of NTCs to CGSs for recycling while stock lasts. Please see details of the Service below.

Recycling Tips

  1. This recycling service is limited to natural Christmas trees (NCTs). We encourage the public to replant other small potted plants (such as Poinsettia) and keep artificial Christmas trees and other festival decorations for reuse in order to reduce waste and save resources.
  1. Prior to delivering the NCTs, members of the public should remove bottom stands and all lightings, decorations, tapes etc. to facilitate subsequent recycling processes.
  1. CGSs only accept NCTs of 2 meters or less in height while there is no such limitation at EcoPark.
  1. Commercial and Industrial (C&I) organisations such as Property Management Companies should deliver NCTs to EcoPark. CGSs will not accept NCTs delivered by C&I organisations.
  1. Please contact the respective collection point in advance before delivery to ensure that the NCTs are suitable for recycling.
